The first year after I got out, I had a good job, a nice house, and a quiet kind of emptiness I could not name. What I missed was not the danger. It was the team. A buddy dragged me to a weekend volunteer project renovating a fellow veteran's home, and about an hour into hauling lumber I felt it click back. Now I am there every month, and I have a crew again. The mission changed, but the point never did: show up, work hard, take care of your people. If you are floating since you took the uniform off, go find your crew. They are waiting.
