Keeping your mind strong during recovery

What helped me stay positive while my body healed.

Recovery is a mental marathon wearing a physical costume. Your body does the healing, but your mind decides whether the weeks in between are torture or training. Three things carried me through my own recovery. I tracked tiny wins in a notebook, because progress whispers and pain shouts; a written record is how you hear the whisper. I accepted help out loud, with thanks, instead of deflecting it, which turned my pride into connection. And I gave my days a shape, one walk, one chore, one episode of something good, so the hours could not all blur into waiting. You will have dark days. They are not a verdict, they are a weather system. Keep the notebook, keep the routine, and let the people who love you do what they came to do.
