A gratitude note each night

Writing down one good thing changed what my mind searched for during difficult weeks.

Community story

During a long stretch of anxiety, a therapist suggested I end each day by writing one good thing in a cheap notebook. I was skeptical, because my days genuinely had very little good in them, or so I believed. Within two weeks I noticed I had started hunting for the entry all day long. The good thing could be a stranger holding a door or my dog choosing my lap. My circumstances did not change. My search engine did. Eight notebooks later, I can say this plainly: what you look for, you find. Train your eyes at night and your days will follow.

Every story matters.
